Week of Sept. 14

The goal for this week is to model a good amount of a 3D kart.

Last week we showed you how to download and open parts.  The main site we used was 3DContentCentral.com, but you can use others. Things to do this week:

  • Know how to set up an Inventor Project, so your parts can work together well.
  • Download and constrain the following with each other, as much as you can:
    • Wheels (with tires)
    • Axle for rear wheels
    • Motors
    • Sprockets
    • Frame
  • This does not have to be perfect, it never is.  However, you should be able to make some kind of frame.
  • How will you connect an axle to it for the wheels?  Can you find how others have done it, and work on that?
  • How do you connect motors to this kart?  Research what has been done, and try!
  • Like the VEX robots, we need to gear this, and the most common is sprockets and chain.  Don't worry about the chain, but how will you do sprockets?
See this shared folder of pictures to see how others have done this: click here

Don't forget about the karts Charles has made:
Go online to find parts, to learn how to do things, but I want to see accomplishment this week, this is real work.  Check out the slideshow below for ideas.
