"B" day needs to take Inventor Basics Quiz. See the bottom of this page for a list of terms.  We will do this Monday.
I will be checking portfolios at the end of NEXT week for your Stage, 3D print model, and Bridges.  Each should be mentioned, and I will show you my suggested method this week.

Tuesday we have the Mazda Motorsports Team presenting a very cool race car and STEM lesson right after Academy time.

For the majority of this week, and probably next if needed, students will be working on projects.  CDAT students are in the following categories:
  • 9th grade are doing "Carnival" projects with Tech and Math
  • 10th grade are primarily doing "Carnival" projects, some might receive permission to do Science Fair.
  • 11th/12th grade are doing "Carnival" or "Science Fair" or "Carnival Planning"
I am NOT telling you to rig your game, but they do make it less likely to win, they REDUCE the probability.

ALL of my students should be "engineering" something, so your focus this week and next is your progress on a project.  Things that will be evaluated (graded!):
  • Project/team website exists to hold files, pictures, notes  (Monday/Tuesday)
  • Project descriptions/plans posted on website with as much detail as possible so reader understands the point of the project (Monday/Tuesday)
  • Regular status updates (at least every other day) - have an "Updates" page.  These are honest reflections about where you are at, what you want to do, and the steps you need to take next. (Any day)
    • Updates should be after every team meeting during Academy time.
    • Every team member should have assignments:  WHO is doing WHAT by WHEN?  A person is assigned a job and a due date, EVERY meeting.  This should be for any group, even individuals.
  • Design of product, including Clear measurements (timing, size, statistics, etc.) (Wednesday/Thursday)
  • Prototypes - virtual or physical, depending on what you are making (Friday/Monday)
  • Updated models - based on prototypes and goals  (Oct. 1/2)
The "Carnival de los Muertos" is for an amazing cause, so many people are affected by cancer.  Science Fair is also admirable, our STEM students ARE the leaders of tomorrow.  This project should be amazing, let's go!!
