Week of Oct. 6-10

This week we will cover the basics of Autodesk Inventor, a real engineering software.  We will cover the most basic ways to create parts, and then we will review how to make "assemblies", which are groups of parts, and finally "assemblies of assemblies", which is combining groups of parts.

If time allows, we might do things like stress analysis and other more advanced topics. Finally, we will show how to produce a DWG or "drawing" file, something you'd give to a machinist who would actually create your part.

Also, during this week, we will be catching up to the last projects, reviewing any that were not shown during last week.

The general schedule:
  • Monday - begin Inventor basics.  We will review a bit, but follow the video in the software with this button, then make Legos/Duplos.
  • Tuesday - continue on with basics including basic assembly techniques, then making the bottle using a cool rotation technique.  On Wednesday, you'll be asked to combine the two days' skills....

  • Wednesday - a mini-project to accomplish, should be fun!  Here's the link (yes, this is for a grade)
  • Thursday - intro to assemblies
  • Friday - continue assemblies
